A NIGHT AT SOWUTUOM

Image
themes Just as it happens in any society at night, the case of Sowutuom is quite different and exceptional with the springing up of so many slums and ghettos putting social vices on the high which in the long is affecting the morality of the  society that once housed morality in the Ga West District. Despite the fact that the Catholic church has its formation  houses for priests and friars on the hills of this geographical enclave many young ones care less about the practice of social vices which has become a normal thing of the day in the lives of pretty and attractive young adults. Parading the principal streets of the town towards the Ofankor road leading to Kumasi and the Eastern Region is where one is faced the surprise of the number of night clubs and restaurants as well as pubs housing these recalcitrant young adults who have decided to live their lives in a shabby and uncouth manner. It pains the heart most how some elders in the society fathom to the high rise

IN CREATING A DESIRABLE SOCIETY

Genesis 1:8,10, Psalm 102:19,25, Jeremiah 10:11-12 and Hebrews 1:10 make it pretty clear that “the heavens and the earth” in the manner presented in Genesis 1:1 fall short of being a single phrase referring to the universe as is the case in Ezra 5:11 and Mathew 11:25 but are rather different and distinct entities which refer to the skies on whose waters God established His abode (Psalm104:3) and the dry land on which plants, animals and humans live respectively. In spite of this, Genesis 1:1 declares that the heavens and the earth were made in a certain time called “BEGINNING.”   Also, Exodus 20:11 expresses the view that the above mentioned heavens and earth together with the seas and their entire hosts were made in a “SIX DAYS” period. In another respect, Genesis 1:3-31 describes, though sometimes not in full, how, why and when the heavens, earth, seas and their hosts were made in a “SIX DAYS” period as suggested by Exodus 20:11. From the above narrative it is suggested that th

YOUTH IN POLITICS

Image
It is yet another moment to give thanks and glory to the Almighty Yahweh for seeing Ghana through yet another elections without chaos and bad omen. Elections are made possible by campaigns altogether classified as politics. No matter what the case might be and will be in any social system even in the animals kingdom a level of political dispensation and interactions. As our elders say they youth are the future leaders pave way for this paper to be given a moment of showcase. Politics described by scholars is a way of winning and exercising political power gives room for all and sundry, most especially the youth to engage in it. Politics has been understood in our era and therefore gaining roots for them to make good and reasonable choices enough for their communities. Winning political power and exercising authority should not be the sole responsibility of the old but also the youth. This should not in any way that will bring the practice into the mud. Politics these

THE JOURNEY TO PRESIDENCY

Image
themes It has been a long and hard fight by the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo. The journey began in the 4th republic era somewhere in 1992 when he won the parliamentary elections to represent the people of Abuakwa South Constituency. It has not been easy despite the notion that that constituency was the stronghold of the NPP. He had a strong conviction of leading the people of Ghana one day. For a person from the Kyeb i royal family and a member of the political family, it is no surprise to anybody that he shows zeal towards political leadership. Being nephew to the doyen of Ghanaian politics, Joseph Boakye Dankwa and son of William Akuffo who became a ceremonial president under the 2nd republic tells anyone the kind of family he comes from.  The struggle to the presidency by Akuffo-Addo started in 1996 when he contested primaries to lead his party against former president Flt Lt. John Jerry Rawlings but lost to former pr

ARE GHANAIANS DUMB?

Image
I will continue to ask this questions, "are Ghanaians dumb?" This is in relations to our inability to ask our political figure what it takes to honor their promises Deep within me I know I will be to a political party with this post. During the 2008 elections, Late Professor Evans Atta-Mills made a promise to electorates pertaining to fuel prices and when he reduced it about 1% Ghanaians complained that he did not honour his campaign promise of reducing fuel prices drastically. It could be that that is his measurement. Here we are again in the middle of another promise or bunch of promises by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with their free education among others. Ghanaians again have not taken the pain to ask within which period will that promises be honored. I believe the other promises will also follow the same pattern if we had ask the politicians when those promises would be honored. Ghana is a country full of natural resources yet we have not been able to tap into

DECEIT OF THE SOCIAL DEMOCRACY

Image
It is obvious and no two way about the fact that some people claim to be leftist with the socioeconomic principle of social democracy which is a blatant deceit from members of that clan or lineage. It has been a privilege to learn about the three different economic policies called capitalism, democratic socialism and social democracy. This in one way or the other has given me the insight to help me to choose from what is right and wrong and also knowing my left from right. Let us get ourselves into these economic policies or ideologies to juxtapose among them. Capitalism is the system where ownership of the mean of production is in the hands of private individuals who tend to exploit their fellow humans with the aim of making profit.   Social Democracy on the other hand presupposes that capitalism is the best and should be allowed to operate but rather a system should be created to task the private man to cater for the exploited. Under this system capitalism is allowed to op

POWER ABUSE

After listening Hon. Moses Asaga the boss of the Ghana Petroleum Authority on 28th of May, 2015 on his take on the increase of petroleum prices it baffles my minds. when petroleum products were reduced at world market he did not reduce it in Ghana all because he claim we the the Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) but here is the case he has increased the price when it was increased at world market not the percentage it was initially. I want to believe he has no regard for the average Ghanaian citizen and when he he said Ghanaians are buying expensive cars from Europe. In this current power crisis when people are buying generators to supplement the crisis petroleum prices are being increased how do we manage this economy in the current brouhaha?
