BUSH MEAT SYNDROME
Where exactly is this driving at? The nature and attitude displayed
by the Director-general of the Birth and Death Registry in Ghana makes it stink
like the vapor evaporating from an abandoned latrine. The directive not to register
certain local names because they are synonymous to titles are somehow unwarranted.
Come to think of this. The registration of names like King, Queen, Prince and Princess
are likewise titles. The question I like to ask is, are these allowed to be documented
because of their linkage to the western world or better still our colonial
masters? These names are synonymous to Nii,
Naaba, and the many others we have.
Inappropriate of me, I feel disgusted and disgruntled when things
of unnecessity happen in a country which is in dire need of economic freedom and
mass development as well as massive industrialization are so attached to foreign
cultures and influence of which they need emancipation from. Nepotism and
corruption have become the bedrock of modern-day societies and here we are
instead of fighting that rather entangling ourselves with unnecessary gymnastics
of power.
It baffles the mind on what makes people demean their status
and uphold the dignity of others and consensual agreement to some geographical
boundless entities of the West and Arab communities. It feels insane to admit
the culture of others as high as the volcanic eruptions in the Everest against
ones own.
Most often I believe within myself that Africans have been
indoctrinated so much that they (we) look
inferior upon ourselves and think whatever idea or product within is of "less"
inferior quality.
The clueless point of not allowing such local identity to be
documented until recent directives from the sector minister makes it look as if
we are such kind of "BUSH MEAT " that run helter-skelter when there is
an impending danger.
